Alexandre Thienpoint is proprietor of Vieux Chateau Certan

Vieux Chateau Certan 1998

Distinguished by its salmon pink capsule, VCC is one of the greatest wines of Pomerol. Its 14-hectare vineyard – 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon – borders St-Emilion and is a neighbour of Cheval Blanc. An outstanding vintage in the Right Bank, Vieux Chateau Certan 1998 (85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Cabernet Franc) has just crept into its tertiary plane. Sandalwood, blue fruits chased by cherries, and a very distinctive liquorice note. Tenacity and freshness. Decant 60 to 90 minutes. Proprietor Alexandre Thienpont, his son Guillaume has joined him at the estate. Jacques Thienpoint, proprietor of Chateau Le Pin, is a cousin and uncle respectively.
