Chateau Haut-Brion 1996

Very minty, and with whiffs of sandalwood. Medium-ish blackcurrant fruit. A lighter 1996 (already not a particularly rich vintage) than usual. Delicious and incredibly fresh. Decanted for three hours. Perhaps a bit longer than necessary. Would had been instructed to taste after 60 to 90 minutes of decanting. The blend is 50% Merlot, 39% Cabernet Sauvignon and 11% Cabernet Franc.
