Domaine d’Ardhuy Corton Renardes Grand Cru 2011

We wrote about their delicious Savigny-les-Beaune Aux Clous Premier Cru 2015 two months ago on 28 September. The Corton Renardes is even more astounding which, last night, a friend served blind. Still very youthful at nearly 10 years young, the colour remains a shimmering ruby. Textbook pristine raspberry/strawberry aroma and fruit. Very intense and persistent. The tannins are ripe with a gentle grip, the freshness unshakeable. Pin point harmony. This relatively young estate took roots in 1947 when Gabriel d’Ardhuy met his future wife Eliane Andre at a harvest. Their union gave birth to the domaine and seven daughters. The sisters perpetuate the goals and aspirations of their parents. Domaine d’Ardhuy’s spiritual home is Le Clos des Langres. It has a manor house and the 3. 15 hectares of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are a monopole. It was first planted in the 10th Century by monks of the Cluny Order.  Le Clos des Langres (pictured) can be visited by prior appointment at www.ardhuy.com/oenotourisme-bourgogne/.
