King Charles III and Queen Camilla visited Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte in Martillac, Bordeaux, 22 September 2023.
The Graves Grand Cru in the Pessac-Leognan AOC was chosen by the king for its principles of organic farming and biodynamics, a subject close to his heart.
King Charles and Queen Camilla were received by Daniel and Florence Cathiard, owners of Smith Haut Lafitte.

The commitment to organic practices is something also close to other members of the Cathiard Family.
Their eldest daughter Mathilde founded the cosmetics brand Caudalie, which uses grape seeds at the active ingredient in its creams.
As for sister Alice, together with husband Jerome Tourbier, the couple created the 5-star hotel complex Les Sources de Caudalie which is home to the Vinotherapy SPA, all on the same grounds as the vineyards of Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte.
