Pont de Gassac Red 2022
After liberating this from the wine fridge (15° C) I decanted a third of the bottle straight into a waiting glass. Thirty minutes later, this South of France red opened up with ripe, juicy sweetness of dark blue black fruits including cherries and currants. The exuberant fruit is balanced by ripe tannins with a gentle grip on the finish. This delicious medium-plus bodied red is carried by a roundness of freshness on the finish, making it as equally enjoyable on its own, as with food including roast chicken and pork, duck, lamb and beef dishes. The blend is 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 30% Syrah. Pont de Gassac is a range from the famed Mas de Daumas Gassac and would make an excellent wine by the glass in restaurants.
