This is a family-owned winery situated in Hawkes Bay in the North Island of New Zealand. The wine is named for the wild ducks who make a home for themselves around the irrigation dam on the vineyard. Raspberry fruit with a delicate spice aspect. There is a grip of tannins on the finish and lots of lively acidity. More structured and restrained than fruitier Central Otago Pinot Noirs of the South Island. A great pairing – incidentally – with duck, Cantonese roast goose, roast chicken, lamb, and mushroom dishes.
