Third-generation Paolo Saracco continues where his father Giovanni and grandfather Luigi began when they sold their production as bulk wine starting in 1900. The brand Azienda Paolo Saracco was created 31 years ago in 1988. This Piedmont pinot nero or pinot noir was fermented in stainless steel vats and then aged partly in small barrels and large cask for 12 to 14 months. The result is a raspberry fruity pinot that is very Burgundian. The fruitiness is checked by ripe, suave, supple but crisp tannins. Expertly balanced red that is very accessible now but which will continue to age, evolve and improve into 2022 to 2225.
