Welcome to EDITION 736 of GRAPEVINE
On Wednesday 3 July, I was in Tours sur Marne and Reims for a day.
At Champagne Piper-Heidsieck, I bumped into someone I have known for a long time, the former Chef Sommelier of Les Crayeres Philippe Jamesse.
Philippe Jamesse – former Chef Sommelier of Les Crayeres – is one of the most knowledgeable persons in the world on Champagne.
One of the most knowledgeable persons in the world on Champagne – both the wines and the region – Jamesse now works in various capacities, including as a consultant.
All the Very Best Philippe!
The 106 Edition of the annual Tour de France starts tomorrow in Brussels.
This coming Monday 8 and Tuesday 9 July, the riders will wind through Champagne and enjoy breathtaking views of the region’s vineyards.
I am very happy to inform that temperatures in France have cooled since it peaked at 45.9 degrees Celsius on 28 June in Gallargues-le-Montueux in Provence (halfway between Nimes and Montpellier).
The riders will still have a lot of hot, hard work to do before the tour ends on Saturday 28 July in Paris along the Champs Elysees.
Wishing one and all A Very Good Weekend.
