WELCOME TO EDITION 839 of GRAPEVINE
Two years ago during Covid lockdown, a handful of distributors got in touch.
“Could you help sell our wine?”
As I write about wine, I replied I should not be involved in also selling it. There was a conflict of interest.
They then informed their business was flagging as they supply mainly to restaurants which were shuttered because of the lockdown.
That was the reason wineguru.com.sg started. Our modest way of helping distributors.
I did not, however, want to recommend readers wine I would not be proud to share with others. As I adore the taste of fruit (the soul of a wine) over oak (the taste of furniture), I sought out such wines for wineguru.
Our best-selling white is Domaine Maurice Tremblay Chablis. Two readers ordered 12 bottles each a while ago.
The 2020 vintage is a killer. One of the earliest harvests, picking in Burgundy started in late August. The fruit is layered, intense, and briming with freshness. Zero oak! Enjoyable now, this pure Chardonnay will continue to evolve into 2025 and beyond. Patience is not, however, my strong point.
Next Wednesday 22 June, Domaine Maurice Tremblay Chablis 2020 will be paired with two courses for a dinner I am hosting for members of a wine storage company.
A Very Good Rest of the Week.
