We are delighted to be launching our inaugural GREAT RHONE TOUR.
I first visited the region about 30 years ago and have done so over the years.
I am particularly delighted the Rhone domaines and maisons we are visiting are some of the greatest wines in the world:
- CHAPOUTIER
- GUIGAL
- JABOULET
- GEORGES VERNAY
- DOMAINE DU VIEUX TELEGRAPHE
It is also an especial treat to be dining at PAUL BOCUSE (we have taken their most important private room).
I first visited with my wife about 20 years ago when Monsieur Bocuse (1926 – 2018) was still alive, and several years later we returned with our daughter on a night when, unfortunately, the great man was ill and resting in his room above the restaurant. Restaurant Paul Bocuse has never missed a beat and is distinguished by not one but two Meilleur Ouvriers de France, namely Executive Chef Gilles Reinhardt (2004) and Chef Olivier Couvin (2015).
The following night, we will be dining at the legendary LA MERE BRAZIER, where Bocuse had trained as a young man.
Eugenie Brazier (1895-1977) was the first woman to receive three Michelin stars and the first person to receive six Michelin stars in 1933 for her two restaurants. La Mere Brazier was acquired by Chef Mathieu Viannay in 2008. Vianny also won the highest honour in French cuisine in 2004. That year, he was crowned the Meilleur Ouvrier de France, the most difficult prize to attain in the French culinary universe.
Three of France’s greatest culinary stars. All are Meilleur Ouvriers de France
Our inaugural GREAT RHONE TOUR will therefore celebrate the haut-cuisine of three of France’s greatest Chefs!!! And three of the Northern Rhone’s greatest Maisons!!!
And a personal indulgence. My favourite CdP, DOMAINE DU VIEUX TELEGRAPHE!
I hope very much you can be an invaluable part of our GREAT RHONE TOUR.
