Greetings from the Var in the south of France.
I have been here since 26 January 2020.
After arriving on the second day of the Lunar New Year, three days later, I drove to Cremona, Brescia, Verona and Giarolo in Northern Italy before returning on 2 February 2020 to the Var.
I have had my house in the village of Lorgues since end of 2011, almost 10 years ago.
When I go to the supermarkets – there are two main ones – I never have to pay for parking. And can choose from more than 10 different butter. Most of them – if salted – tells you where the salt comes here. My favourite is from the north of France and I never but salted.
My favourite brand of yoghurt – with pineapple and passionfruit – I discovered last Monday that Mamie Nova also has a version with peach. Not just any peach but from Roussillon.

France is like that. It tells you where food comes from.
Whether something is simple and inexpensive or luxurious and crazy, the French care about what they eat – and drink – and like to know where what you put in your mouth, where it comes from.
It’s a wonderful obsession.
France – like every place in the world – may not be perfect, but, she cares about things that matter. Things that can make us remain healthy or become sick.
France doesn’t care so much about the stockmarket.
She is more interested in the food market.
France is Special.
