Even though 2006 is not considered a great vintage, decant this 45 to 60 minutes to ensure the red dazzles with its perfume of camphor/sandalwood, ripe capsicum, blue fruit, smoky notes, and hint of mint. Medium-plus-ish in body, harmonious, and deliciouslyfresh. The 67-hectare red vineyard is plantedto 55% cabernet sauvignon, 35% merlot, 9% cabernet franc, and 1% petit verdot. Daniel & Florence Cathiard purchased this Pessac-Leognan estate in 1990 and have never looked back. In another lifetime, Daniel Cathiard was a member of the French Olympic alpine ski team (he was reserve to the legendary Jean-Claude Killy, who won three gold medals at the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble). Founder of Go Sport, Cathiard later sold the chain of shops, which still exists today and is found throughout France.
