Champagne Pol Roger 2012

Based originally in Aÿ, Pol Roger moved to Epernay in 1851. This was just two years after he had made his first wine sale 170 years ago in 1849. Still family owned – and by the same family – Champagne Pol Roger is highly respected for its quality, and the consistency of that quality. The 2012 vintage was recently released after seven years on lees in the bottle. Produced from a traditional house blend of 60% pinot noir and 40% chardonnay from 20 Grand and Premier Crus in the Montagne de Reims and the Cote des Blancs. Ripe and rich, all that appley, citrussy, floral fruitiness is chaperoned by unshakeable freshness. Drinking deliciously now and will continue to evolve and improve into the next two, three decades.
