Bellavista Franciacorta La Scala Brut 2013

La Scala, in Milan, is the temple of Italian opera. Inaugurated 241 years ago on 3 August 1778, it remains a magical magnet for music and lyrical lovers the world over. In 2004 – after two painstaking years of restoration – La Scala was reinvigorated with all the aplomb due to its stature, status and standing. Who should be there but Bellavista, a benchmark Franciacorta made to the same demanding exactitude of Champagne. Since then, a Bellavista vintage has found pride and honour of place with every La Scala season. The 2018 - 2019 La Scala calendar is dedicated to Bellavista Brut 2013. Comprising 75% chardonnay and 25% pinot noir, part of the wine was fermented and aged in 228-litre oak barrels. And then spent more than four years on lees in the bottle. The end result is a soaring crescendo worthy of a La Scala star soprano. Bright shining straw in complexion, honeyish, nutty, minerally and with a beewax aspect. Fruity, with an immeasurably fine, elegant, dry, authoritative finish. La Scala sparkles with Bellavista!
