Bellavista Brut 2014

One of the most highly regarded sparkling wines in the world, Bellavista is a Franciacorta, Italy’s answer to Champagne. The winery is named for its envied location overlooking Lake Iseo and the Po Valley. Founded by Vittorio Moretti in 1981, Bellavista owns 198 hectares of vineyards. Fermentation was in stainless steel tanks and oak. The wine was aged 36 months on lees in bottle, the same minimum requirement for vintage Champagne. Bright straw, the aromas and palate include citrus, apples, minerality, and a hint of honey. There is also the start of a delicate creaminess of texture. About full-bodied, the freshness is as stubborn as the long finish. Each year, Bellavista launches the opening of La Scala on 7 December. Bellavista Brut 2014 will do the honours for the 2019/2020 season in Milan.
