I have been a citizen for quite a few years now. I am not patriotic because I have divided my citizenship between Schiphol Airport Amsterdam (the first hotel that was opened in 2008), London, Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, and Gare de Lyon. CitizenM was founded by India-born Dutch businessman Rattan Chadha and Michael Levie.
Founded in Holland in 2008, citizenM Gare de Lyon is just 2 minutes from the railway station in Paris.
I have been a citizen in their first Schipol Airport hotel, London, Roissy Charles de Gaulle, and Gare de Lyon.
I was Citizen 705 last Wednesday in their Gare de Lyon hotel which is just a 2-minute walk from the train station. The rooms are bright and airy, and the best thing about citizenM are their beds. Huge and spacious, you can swim in them. The sheets are pure cotton and of a very dense knot. I suspect it’s Egyptian cotton. And ironed so thoroughly it feels like silk. Unless you sleep in the nude, you will just have to take my word for it. The lighting is all managed via a pad. You can even choose several colours if you feel in that kind of mood.
Design that is also functional.
Bright and refreshing.
Have a seat.
Let it Hang.
Rain, rain, don’t go away.
Time to check it out.
I am not a breakfast kind of guy but a good double-shot latte is crucial. They are excellent at citizenM. The worst, of course, are in 5-star hotels where the machine’s idea of a double-shot expresso is twice the amount of water for the same amount of coffee power for a single expresso. That should be properly called a Double Shock Latte!!
