Frapin • DRC of Cognac

FRAPIN
DRC of COGNAC

Next week, 23 to 25 May 2023, Singapore will host its first Vinexpo Asia.

Most people think the reason has to do with Hong Kong’s stringent Covid regulations before that Chinese city opened up to the world.

Will Singapore be just a one-off?

Be that as it may, the small wine group I founded back in early 2020, ASSEMBLAGE, we will be hosting a dinner for CHAMPAGNE GOSSETCHATEAU LEOVILLE POYFERRE and COGNAC FRAPIN.

There will be a representative from each house.

GOSSET and CHATEAU LEOVILLE POYFERRE need little introduction.

Lesser-known is COGNAC FRAPIN.

Not if you are of the “spirit world”.

I regard FRAPIN as the Domaine de la Romanee-Conti of Cognac.

No one else in Cognac owns 240 hectares of vineyards – all in one uninterrupted contiguous plot – all in Grande Champagne, the most treasured, precious sub-region of Cognac.

In the last 12 months, I have visited the venerable Cognac house five, six times in Segonzac.

We will be treated to two of their XO cuvées.

On Thurday 25 May 2023, when we enjoy Chateau Fontpinot XO, it will be a special bottle to commemorate the 100thAnniversary of this single chateau creation by Pierre Frapin in 1923.

The bottle will be hand carried to Singapore by FRAPIN’s Regional Director Kalina Ivanova.

The other cuvée is Frapin Cigar Blend XO.

Actually, all Frapin XO cognacs qualify to be classified XXO as they are a minimum 14, not just 10, years.

On Thursday 25 May 2023, we will be enjoying Chateau Fontpinot XO in a special commemorative bottle and label to mark its 100th Anniversary
