Decanter World Wine Awards 2021 was its 18th edition and attracted a record 18,094 wines from 56 countries and regions.
The two-week judging period had 160 judges including 44 Masters of Wine and 11 Master Sommeliers.
Gold, Silver and Bronze medals were awarded in the first round of judging. Gold medal winners then qualified for a regional competition towards Platinum medals. The final round of blind tasting involved Platinum winners and only those that stood out were rewarded with the top accolade of the competition – Best in Show.
