Chateau Guofei, situated in Heshuo (aka Hoxud) County, Xinjiang, is to be congratulated for not just producing riesling, but a dry and a semi-sweet version (most Chinese wineries are obsessed with making chardonnay when it comes to white wine). This is the semi-sweet riesling which has 80 gm of residual sugar. The label is a stylized representation of the contours of the vineyard. Light, bright green. Floral, appley, and with a hint of honey. Lively freshness. Delicious as an aperitif and also to pair with deep-fried foods and lightly spiced dishes. This is the first vintage of the semi-sweet version.
