Baijiu and Chinese Wine

WELCOME TO EDITION 753 of GRAPEVINE

Last Saturday 16 November, we co-organised an event where our readers and the public tasted Chinese wine from six wineries, two huangjius, and six baijius. Over 100 people turned up at The Tower Club.

The Guest-of-Honour was China’s Cultural Ambassador Mr XIAO Jiang Hua.

The media was also present including bloggers and popular 958 Capital Radio host Qi Qi. Industry players were also at hand. One such was J Z Lim, whose family are proprietors of 1855 The Bottle Shop and six restaurants.

The interest in Chinese wine and baijiu is definitely on an uptrend.

Following the tasting, in the evening, we had a Sichuan dinner at Amara Hotel’s Silk Road, a 100 Top Chinese Restaurants of the World 2019.

The wines, huangjiu, and baijiu were laid out as a buffet and it was confirmed again that the wines and baijius were the most popular.

Wishing you A Very Good Week Ahead.
