The ExciseMan Wine & Whisky Bar is a setting in which Sherlock Holmes will feel most at home. Whether to ponder his latest case, or practise a new tune on his violin (rather appropriate since the ExciseMan is located at #02-27 level 2 of the Esplanade, Singapore’s principal concert venue).

If doing the former the Baker Street private detective will no doubt rest himself on a plush Chesterfield sofa even as his mind rummage over the facts of the crime.

The reason the ExciseMan has such an impressive vinous reach is because its sister company is wine distributor and wine shop Le Vigne, founded by Patricia Britton, one of Singapore’s most respected wine professionals (having cut her palate, including at Jardines and Pernod Ricard).

As for spirits, devotees will not be found wanting either. ExciseMan founder Lewis Mitchell is very learned in “spiritual matters”. Take your pick.
