Plastic packaging for fresh fruits and vegetables will be banned from 1 January 2024 in France.
Meanwhile, up to 29 foods are exempt from the country’s ban on plastic-wrapped produce including berries, brocoli and mushrooms.
The government’s goal is to phase out all single-use plastics by 2040.
The first step was started in 2021 when three single-use plastic products – plates, cups, and cotton buds – were banned in France.
