Chateau La Sauvageonne La Villa 2017

Located to the north-west of Montpellier, Chateau Sauvageonne produces white, rosé, and red wines. Although this is in the Languedoc in the south of France, the micro-climate ensures cool nights that means the ripening is drawn out, which adds layers and complexity to the resultant wine. Handpicked between sunrise and 10 am to further capture freshness, the blend comprises Vermentino (aka Rolle), Viognier, Grenache, and Mouvedre. Fermented in stainless steel tanks, and with a small proportion in oak. Peach and red berry fruit with a dash of vanilla. Textured and delicately glycerol. Persistence and length. Don’t overchill. Best in a wide Burgundy glass or Cognac ballon. Chateau La Sauvageonne La Villa 2016 was named Best Rosé in the World at The Drinks Business Global Rosé Mastersheld in London in June 2017.
