The 100-hectare property – 70 ha of which are vineyards  – includes a luxury hotel, spa and restaurant

The history of Villa Sparina dates back to the 1700s.

At the time, it was part of a grand estate immersed in the vineyards of Monterotondo which is in the heart of Gavi in Piedmont.

Today, the 100-hectare property – 70 ha of which are vineyards  – includes a luxury hotel, spa and restaurant surrounded by woods, gardens and vines.

The winery was founded in the 1970s by present owner the Moccagatta Family. Most of the vineyard on the hillsides is planted to Cortese, the variety responsible for Gavi.

Villa Sparina stands out from the crowd not only for its quality but also the beautiful bottle shape used to hold the wines. This is inspired by an ancient bottle found during the excavation when restoring the estate.
