On The Grapevine Chardonnay 2017
Bright light straw with a green tinge. Whiff of vanilla (most probably from oak chips), pineapple, and passionfruit. Medium-bodied. Round, creamy-ish fruit with a bite of lemon zest on the end. Well-made, balanced white with unmistakeable Chardonnay profile. From family-owned and family-managed McWilliams of Australia.
On The Grapevine Shiraz 2017
Violets, cherries, over-ripe raspberries, plums and liquorice. The fruit and finish is a touch sweet. Although not disagreeable, would be more authoritative if there is more grip on the finish. A touch easy and too pleasing. At least it is not over-oaked. Generous fruitiness and medium-plus bodied. Delicious with lamb, mutton, casseroles, stews and mushroom dishes.
