Italian Wine Scholar Program

CHAN Wai Xin – a leading expert on Italian wine – is the lecturer for Singapore’s first instructor-led Italian Wine Scholar program.

Chan is an IT consultant and lectures on the subject at Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University. He is also a Certified Wine Educator (CWE) of Society of Wine Educators and one of just 14 people to hold the title Italian Wine Expert from Vinitaly International Academy (VIA).

Chan Wai Xin is also a Certified Educator of the 3iC programme. He has served as a panel chairperson and moderated panels at the Collisioni Festival Progetto Vino in Barolo. The Singaporean was also involved in judging the new release of Barolo 2016 and Barbaresco 2017 in New York in February 2020.

The Italian Wine Scholar program is designed to provide committed students of wine with all the tools necessary to successfully master the wines of Italy at a professional level.

The program is divided into two courses and candidates must score a composite average of 75 percent to be awarded the internationally recognised Italian Wine Scholar title. The Unit 1 course will be held from 26 June to 31 July 2021 (9 am to 5 pm) over 4 Saturdays.

For enthusiasts and consumers uncertain if they can commit to a full course, they can choose to begin their learning journey with the Italian Wine Scholar Prep course (IWS Prep).

IWS Prep is designed to address the needs of the inquisitive wine enthusiast and aspiring wine professional alike. IWS Prep is content-rich and full of cultural highlights that are as engaging as they are entertaining. This course will run from 29 May till 19 June 2021 (1.30 to 5.30pm) over 3 Saturdays.
