On Thursday 2 December 2021, Chateau d’Esclans launched its 2020 vintage with a very well paired lunch at Michelin 2 Star Saint Pierre.
Chef Proprietor Emmanuel Stroobant and Head Chef Steve Lancaster were in top form. So too the service staff headed by Stroobant’s other half Edina Hong who is Marketing Director of the Emmanuel Stroobant Group.

Founded by Sacha Lichine who went on to revolutionise rosé wine and single-handedly propelled it into the luxury segment, in 2019, Moët Hennessy acquired 55% of Chateau d’Esclan.
Yesterday, although the sky outside was overcast, the view at the mouth of the Singapore River as it decants into the sea was the perfect setting for the Provencal rosé.

Tasting Notes
Whispering Angel 2020
A whiff of peach and young strawberries. Fresh and dry. Balanced and fresh. Produced from 10 to 12 year old vines at Chateau d’Esclans and bought-in grapes.
Rock Angel 2020
A step-up in quality is immediate on the palate. More structured with citrus zesty fruit and minerality. Produced from 15 to 20 year old vines.
Les Clans 2020
Stone fruit, including peach, with backbone and a lightly creamy texture. Fermented and aged in large French oak barrels. The wood is barely perceptible. Harmonious and a long finish. Produced from 30 to 50 year old vines. This is the personal favourite.
Garrus 2020
The top wine of the estate, single-vineyard Garrus is a serial “Best Rosé in the World” award winner in international competitions. A favourite of the jet-set when they transferred to their yachts in Saint-Tropez and Monaco, Garrus is produced from vines between 70 and 90 years old. Fermented and aged in new French oak. The colour is a light pink with a hint of straw. Vanilla notes and a creamy texture. Reminds of a white Burgundy.
