Champagne William Deutz 2006

Bright light gold shine. A blend of 66% Pinot Noir, 29% Chardonnay and 5% Pinot Meunier, this cuvée prestige is named after the founder who inaugurated the house 180 years ago in 1838. Cuvée William Deutz was aged on lees for almost 8 1/2 years on lees. The nose and palate include mandarin/lemon/lime zest, a hint of apricots, apple cider, whiff of smokiness, and star anise. Although a ripe and forward vintage, William Deutz 2006 has freshness to bolster and lift all that persistent richness. Enjoyable as an aperitif and outstanding with tempura and sashimi otoro. Winemaker Michel Davesne and CEO Fabrice Rosset have to be very satisfied with their achievement.
