Mask is Mandatory

The wearing of mask is now mandatory in Singapore.

As soon as you step out of the house.

The announcement was made in a press conference yesterday 14 April 2020 by National Development Minister and Co-Chair of the Multi-Ministry Taskforce Lawrence Wong.

Singapore – in a move not to outstrip supply – had earlier maintained the mask was not necessary for healthy individuals not working as frontline medical staff or others particularly exposed to coronavirus infection including immigration officers.

The new mandate will see first-time offenders fined up to S$300 and subsequent contravention to a S$1,000 fine and possible prosecution.

Children under the age of two will be exempted. So too those engaged in strenuous exercise including running or jogging.

However, once that stops, you will have to put the mask back on.
