CHAMPAGNE DEUTZ • NEXT CELLARMASTER

Caroline Latrive will bring a wealth of experience and expertise to her next role as Cellarmaster of Champagne Deutz

A changing of Cellarmasters will be taking place at Champagne Deutz in the near future.

Michel Davesne will be passing the key of the cellars to Caroline Latrive. The duo have known each other for a considerable time.

Davesne was Latrive’s oenology intern supervisor and also her sponsor at the Amicale des Cellar Masters (the association of cellarmasters).

For Michel Davesne (very highly regarded and well-liked in the industry), his retirement will crown 20 years in that capacity as the Frenchman became Cellarmaster of Champagne Deutz back in 2003.

As for Caroline Latrive, her move finds her remaining in the Grand Cru village as she was 15 years at the Aÿ based house of Ayala. The Frenchwoman brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her new role.

Caroline Latrive served internships at Charles & Piper Heidsieck, Roederer, and Champagne Palmer. After finishing her oenology degree in 1999, she joined Bollinger and, in 2004 after completing a Master’s degree in oenology, rejoined them as Cellarmaster of Champagne Ayala (owned by Bollinger).

Latrive also worked for her winemaker consultant father in his company Oeno Champagne.
