When I visited on 19 January 2022, it was the first day of their re-opening following the Christmas and New Year holidays.
If the menu was limited that afternoon, the enthusiasm at Le Millesime was overwhelming.
I had visited Domaine d’Eugenie in Vosne-Romanee the same morning and was due out to Clos de Tart in Morey-Saint-Denis in the afternoon.
I could not had asked for a better interlude than in the friendly, courteous, and accommodating atmosphere that was Le Millesime.
After discovering there were limited wines in half-bottle, I was nevertheless very happy to learn there were more than a half dozen available by the glass.
The sommelier, Victor Buatois, was very happy – actually eager I thought – to speak in English. I discovered Buatois was a waiter in a famous Parisian restaurant but was now so evidently proud of being a sommelier working in Burgundy.
Passion, dedication, and professionalism was in full display.

I started with a Macon blanc as an aperitif before moving to another white Hautes Cotes de Nuits for the terrine first course. This was followed by a red Cote d’Or with the duck.
The food was delicious and the service exceptional.
The test of a good restaurant is down to whether we will go back again.
I can’t wait to visit Chambolle-Musigny again.
