Tourtour is about 15 minutes to drive from my house in Lorgues.
The hilltop jewel is one of the “Most Beautiful Villages in France”.
Perched 637 metres above sea level, Tourtour is dotted with intimate restaurants and stone houses. The fact Sotheby’s has an office here attests to Tourtour being a highly sought-after place to have a second home for wealthy clients.
Some are from Paris, others from other cities in France, yet others normally resident oversea.
Houses in Tourtour are in six, seven, even eight figures.
The heart of the village is a no-go for cars. Only pedestrians are allowed which makes Tourtour that much more special and desirable.
Talking of special, just before you reach Tourtour at the top, the restaurant and hotel Le Bastide de Tourtour was a location for a dinner and seduction scene from the 1973 movie “Day of the Jackal” based on the book of the same name by Frederick Forsyth.
