This entry level non-vintage overdelivers big time. Not reductive nor skinny. Yet, not oxidative at all. Instead, there’s roundness of freshness, depth, and developed and layered fruit. Bright light gold. Quince, brioche, dried citrus peel and star anise spice. Medium-plus bodied. Versatile. Enjoyable as an aperitif and with first courses, including scallops or fish whether smoked, pan-fried or steamed, and with olive oil or butter sauce. A blend of one-third each of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. The reserve wine – only Chardonnay and Pinot Noir – is a very high 40% and between 5 and 15 years, averaging around 10 years. Hence, the complexity of this non-vintage.
