Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2020

This is the Sauvignon Blanc that first put New Zealand on the world map. So much so the country became – wine wise anyway – synonymous with the French Loire variety (and later –  to a lesser degree – with Pinot Noir). Cloudy Bay is an evocative name. It stirs the imagination. The label is just as suggestive. The founding inspiration and driving force was Australian David Hohnen of Cape Mentelle of Margaret River. Later, Hohnen sold both wineries to LVMH of France. Light straw green. Perfume of green guavas. Fruity with refreshing lift and a little grip of tannins on the finish. Balanced and very well made.
