Tenuta Carlin de Paolo Moscato d’Asti 2018

Tenuta Carlin de Paolo Moscato d’Asti 2018

When the first taste tells you it is an outstanding wine, it is like the first kiss. Admittedly the latter would be more special. So can the former, particularly when it seems a long time since we have encountered something genuinely uncluttered, unoaked, the fruit and freshness unfettered – yet a part of each other – wrapped in harmony. What I was immediately impressed with Tenuta Carlin de Paolo Moscato d’Asti 2108 was the burst of fruit – grapes, hint of roses, dash of honey – yet so restrained as well as intense. The acidity was just as persistent and stubborn. The wine is still very primary, taut, and bundled up. A shame in a sense to drink now as the potential is calling out time. Best between end of 2021 and 2023. Perhaps beyond.

We are a family winery, already in its fourth generation and we have always and exclusively produced and sold wines. Our grandfather Carlin*, son of our great-grandfather Paolo, was an indefatigable worker, bent from the hard work carried out in the vineyards for many years. However he was always joyful, with his fist clenched as a sign of determination and always striding forward. The work of the soil, the love for the family, a life full of sacrifices, his trousers patched, and an open heart. The best ingredient of a wine is the honesty of the producer.
