Domaine de Long Dai 2017

Although the domaine made wine in 2014, 2015 and 2016, they were not considered good enough to be released commercially. Until the 2017 vintage. The people involved in composing the blend include not only the team in China but also proprietor Saskia de Rothschild, CEO of DBR Jean-Guillaume Prats, Olivier Tregoat (Director of DBR international estates), and Eric Kohler (Technical Director of Bordeaux Chateaux). The blend is of cabernet sauvignon, marselan and cabernet franc. Fragrant, including violets. Blueberry and blackberry fruit. A delicate spiced aspect. Silky Rolls Royce tannins and salivating freshness encircle the core of fruit. Finesse. Medium-plus bodied. The fruit and structure in seamless harmony. Aged 18 months in French oak, 50% of which is new. Production of the 2017 vintage is 2,500 cases. There are about another 200 magnums and 14 Imperiale (one broke in transit), each comprising 6 litres, the equivalent of 9 standard bottles. Domaine de Long Dai is distributed in China by Pernod Ricard. It can also be purchased in Qiu Shan at the winery.
