Marie-Charlotte Mignucci of Champagne Deutz holds a magnum of Amour de Deutz 2007 with Alfred Leung, Founder & CEO of Imperial Treasure Group, in their new Paris restaurant.
This pure chardonnay blanc de blancs is going from strength to strength. From magnum, the fruit is still very primary. With hints of apples, citrus, and a hint of honey. A whiff of smokiness too. Lots of freshness and energy. The acidity is persistent but elegant and soft. With just a suggestion of early creaminess. Although enjoyable now, with lots of ageing potential ahead. If unable to resist temptation, make sure not to serve too cold. And in a white wine glass. A Burgundy ballon would be even better.
